Who Can Stop the Philadelphia Eagles: The Lions or 49ers?
Can anyone stop the Philadelphia Eagles? It’s a good question. Following the team’s win against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday (Nov. 20), the Eagles really seem almost unbeatable. So, what’s the rest of their schedule look like, and can anyone get in the way of the Eagles getting to another Super Bowl?
The Eagles’ schedule for the rest of the season isn’t one to sleep on. They’ve got the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, and then, they’ll take on the 49ers and Cowboys, both of which are formidable teams. Looking at the upcoming schedule, their toughest games are those teams, and they fall in the next few weeks, so the Eagles should have some easier – not easy, because playing anyone in the NFL isn’t easy – but easier games towards the end of their season. For example, I don’t see the Eagles falling to the New York Giants. Sorry, Giants fans.
Looking at this weekend’s game, the Eagles are favorites to defeat the Bills. While the Bills and Josh Allen are a solid team this season, they’ve had some troubles, and seeing this game is home for the Eagles, that’s another push to a likely Philly victory. The real tests will be the games against the 49ers on Dec. 3 and the Cowboys on Dec. 10. The Eagles, of course, beat the Cowboys on Nov. 5, 28-23, and it was a tight game, so expect a repeat. Right now, the biggest threat for stopping the Eagles in the NFC East is the Cowboys. Looking throughout the rest of the NFC, who could stop the Eagles? Let’s look at the NFC standings.
The Saints are atop the NFC South, but they’re 5-5. What a weak conference! The Detroit Lions are atop the NFC North, and in a way, I see them as the Eagles’ biggest threat. They’re one of the strongest teams in the league and have a ton of motivation, seeing that this is their most winning season since 1962.
Don’t underestimate Jared Goff, either. He may not be a flashy quarterback, but he’s solid. Hey, I trust anyone who is a big Eminem fan, as he stated on Hard Knocks. The 49ers are atop the NFC West, and I also see them as the Eagles’ other big threat. That Dec. 3 game will say a lot about this matchup. The Thanksgiving game with the 49ers v.s the Seahawks should also give some insight. Either way, the Eagles are out for blood this season, and there may be no stopping them.
