There are no shortage of BBQ options in and around Detroit. However, only one can be the best. Over the summer, you voted and participated in WRIF's Best BBQ Bracket and the results are in! According to your votes, the best BBQ in Detroit is K-Block's Fire Pit BBQ in Washington Township!

Just like the NCAA Basketball Tournament Bracket, we started with 64 of Detroit's best BBQ restaurants and your votes narrowed it down until there was only one left standing: K-Block's Fire Pit BBQ.

K-Block's Voted Best BBQ In Detroit

Now, we can't crown Detroit's best BBQ and not do anything about it. No way! So, we went to visit K-Block's for ourselves. We wanted to see what the best BBQ in Detroit is all about. After getting a chance to go there in person, try out nearly the whole menu, and meet the fine folks running the joint, we had no doubt that the voters made the correct choice.

K-Block's brings Texas-style barbeque to Macomb and does it differently their own way. They have a unique menu, homemade sauces, and even have unbelievable Cajun offerings, as well. It all started with a food trailer, but the quality of the food created a large demand in the community. Customers started asking about catering and providing food for events, and owners Michael, Kendra, and Brian realized they need to open a brick and mortar storefront.

They've only been up and running for three years, and they're already making an impact in Detroit. Only three years in and they've already been voted the best in Detroit? That speaks volumes about the quality of their BBQ. The meat is always fresh and never frozen. One of my favorite parts about K-Block's? The serving size. You will not leave hungry. Sometimes, when you get a large quantity of food you end up sacrificing quality. Not at K-Block's. The flavor is as large as the food. It's incredible.

Detroit's Best BBQ

The brisket is without a doubt the best I've ever had. It literally melts in your mouth. Then, the sausage had the perfect snap and don't get me started on the award winning mac and cheese. They even had a mac and cheese flight with four different styles of mac including Mexican White Cheddar, Buffalo, Smokey Porky, and K-Block's Klassic. I don't know what they put on top of the Klassic, but it belongs on every mac and cheese out there. Mac and cheese will never be the same to me.

All of that is delicious and outstanding. However, the star of the show is the Texas Beef Ribs. It's massive like a dinosaur rib and feeds three people (or one daring individual). I've truly never had anything like it. On top of that, their chips are homemade and go fantastic in their nachos. Despite having tons of toppings and cheese, the chips remain crispy. They don't get soggy under all the of the toppings. No idea how they pulled that off.

I'm so glad we took the time to go check out K-Block's Fire Pit BBQ in Washington Township for ourselves. The food is so good you have to taste it to believe it. Truly, don't just take my word for it. See for yourself. In the meantime, check out the video below. Although, I recommend you have a napkin handy because your mouth is going to water.

C'mon! How amazing does all of that BBQ look? Brisket, pulled pork, BBQ sandwiches, mac and cheese, Korean BBQ wings, gumbo, what isn't available? No matter what you're looking for, chances are K-Block's has it...and does it exceptionally well.

Thanks again for hosting us, K-Block's! Most importantly, congratulations on being voted the Best BBQ in Detroit at WRIF.com. It's one thing to name yourself the best BBQ, it's something totally different to be voted the best by your community. Even better when the voters get it right. Go try it for yourself!

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
