Too Early to Talk Lions and Playoffs?
Lions Win Again! Beating Bucs 20-6
The Detroit Lions moved to 5-1 this weekend after defeating Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-6. The Lions were the better team yet again to put it simply. Dominating the time of possession 37 minutes to Tampa’s 24. While neither team ran the ball particularly well, the Lions held Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Offense to 251 total yards and zero touchdowns. Goff added 2 Passing touchdowns to his season total, while throwing for 353 yards! Amon-Ra St. Brown had a great game catching 12 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown. The team is starting to look good, like really good.
Lions and the Playoffs?
We’re getting to the point in the season, where many fans are starting to wonder about Detroit’s playoff hopes. The team has a top 10 offense lead by Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown behind a dominant offensive line. On top of a high-octane offense, is another top 10 unit, The defense. I said earlier this season that I believed the Detroit Lions would win 11-12 games this season and win their first NFC North Title in decades. So far everything has been right on track for that to come true, Dan Campbell has truly changed the culture in the Motor City, and now it’s not only Detroit fans who believe it. ESPN analysts’ who previously would mock the Lions have recognized the shift in times and are saying it loud and proud. The Detroit Lions are good, and they are here to win.

As the season marches on, the 5-1 Lions are clawing their way through the ranks and possibly a number 1 seeded spot in the Playoffs. While some may think that sounds insane, according to statistical analysis sites like FTN fantasy, the Lions already have a greater than 95 percent chance to make the playoffs. If that wasn’t enough, Detroit has one of the easiest schedules remaining in all of football. Of course, we will lose a game eventually, but our chances are high to finish strong.
So, the answer to the question, is it too early to talk about playoff and the Lions? The answer is no, obviously the team has to keep their focus on the game at hand each and every week. But the reality is, the Lions are one of the 3 best teams in the NFC, and we should start shouting it from the rooftops here in the Motor City! The Detroit Lions look to improve their record to 6-1 next week when they take on Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens at 1:00 pm on Sunday October 22nd.
