Michigan Bracing for Another Major Snow – Here’s Where
Just when we thought we were clear in Michigan following last week’s ice storm, another major storm is on the way. This time, the winter weather will come in the form of up to half-a-foot of snow.
The National Weather Service reports accumulating snowfall is projected across Michigan, starting early Friday (March 3). Right now, 3 to 6 inches of snow looks likely in the Metro Detroit area. As for go north, for example in the Flint and Saginaw areas, snow projections are higher, looking at about 6 inches. The further south you go, projections are lower.
The NWS Detroit stated in tweet on Tuesday, “Impactful snow potential will be highly contingent on where the rain/snow line sets up. Monitor future updates as this system has the markings for a major winter storm.”
According to AccuWeather, the storm could bring a whopping 6 to 10 of inches of snow in Chicago and 4 to 8 inches in Milwaukee. With this size a snowstorm, travelers should expect flight delays and cancellations in the major Midwest airports, according to AccuWeather.
Last week, a massive ice storm hit lower Michigan, resulting in more than 680,000 homes and business without power. As long as this week’s storm sticks to snow and not ice, we should keep the lights on this time around. At least, that’s what we hope. Stay warm and safe. Remember that spring is just a few weeks away.
