It’s been an honor to rock with you for the past 50 years, and we look forward to the next 50.
Let’s reflect on these key events and happenings in Detroit and around the world in the year 2011!

The Tigers’ regular season ended in September at home against the Cleveland Indians, with the Tigers holding a 95–67 record.

The Tigers scored the team’s first 11-game winning streak since 1968 and first nine-game winning streak since 1984.

The Lions made it to playing the New Orleans Saints in one of the NFC Wild Card Games, which the Lions lost 45–28.

Osama Bin Laden was found and killed by U.S. Navy Seals in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

Prince William married Catherine Middleton.

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs died at the age of 56.

Game of Thrones premiered.

On Dec. 18, the last US troops withdrew from Iraq, formally ending the Iraq War after eight years.

And earthquake and tsunami devastated Japan.
Anne Erickson started her radio career shortly after graduating from Michigan State University and has worked on-air in Detroit, Flint, Toledo, Lansing and beyond. As someone who absolutely loves rock, metal and alt music, she instantly fell in love with radio and hasn’t looked back. When she’s not working, Anne makes her own music with her band, Upon Wings, and she also loves cheering on her favorite Detroit and Michigan sports teams, especially Lions and MSU football. Anne is also an award-winning journalist, and her byline has run in a variety of national publications. You can also hear her weekends on WRIF.
