It’s been an honor to rock with you for the past 50 years, and we look forward to the next 50.
Let’s reflect on these key events and happenings in Detroit and around the world in the year 2007!

In May, the Red Wings made it to the Western Conference Finals, but fell to the Anaheim Ducks.

In June, the Pistons reached the Eastern Conference finals for the fifth consecutive season. They were the first team since the 1992–93 Chicago Bulls to do that. They lost in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The 2007 Detroit Sports Car Challenge presented by Bosch was held on Belle Isle Circuit in September.

The 2007 Detroit Indy Grand Prix, presented by Firestone, took place in September on Belle Isle. Tony Kanaan won.

In September, the Tigers finished runner-up in the AL Central Division.

In December, the Lions finished with a 7–9 record.

In January, the Apple Computer Company announces the release of the first iPhone.

In August, NASA launched the Phoenix Mars Lander.

Major thunderstorms hit sections of Alabama and three other U.S. states in the area.

Rupert Murdoch acquired Dow Jones & Co., including the Wall Street Journal.
Anne Erickson started her radio career shortly after graduating from Michigan State University and has worked on-air in Detroit, Flint, Toledo, Lansing and beyond. As someone who absolutely loves rock, metal and alt music, she instantly fell in love with radio and hasn’t looked back. When she’s not working, Anne makes her own music with her band, Upon Wings, and she also loves cheering on her favorite Detroit and Michigan sports teams, especially Lions and MSU football.
