A New York City chef, who was also a contestant on “Top Chef” just shared heartbreaking news with fans.

Fans of ‘Top Chef’ remember Fatima Ali from season 15 of the show.

Ali, who was diagnosed with cancer last year, underwent surgery months ago and was given a clean bill of health by her doctors.

Unfortunately, her cancer has since returned, and this time, the prognosis is fatal.

The chef shared her story with Bon Appetit.

Ali admitted that when people are healthy, they often fail to truly live, because they believe they have all this time to get things right.

In spite of her prognosis, Fatima is not bitter, rather she’s choosing to spend the rest of her days enjoying live, eating delicious food, and spending time with her family.

The chef had always dreamed of being a restaurant owner one day, and while that dream won’t become a reality, her love of food has not diminished.
