As we settle into the dog days of summer, I’ve been on the lookout for pet finds for the water to keep my French Bulldog Walter cool. Water-based activities are always at the top of our must have list. Ironically, he absolutely hates to take a bath, but he can’t get enough time in the ocean, lake, swimming pool, or any other body of water. While Walter currently has a fold-up dog pool that he uses on a daily basis during the summer, I’ve been hunting for some new and different pet items for the water.

So many dogs are practically born to the water. Like Walter, they love being in and around it. And as a pet owner, I definitely want to make sure my dog is having a good time. That means I gotta find toys, and I have to make sure we’re being safe. So everything from water-resistant toys to a helpful life jacket that fits him just right is on my watch list.

And of course, being at the beach as an adult is so much fun. The summertime is the perfect time for you and your pet to enjoy the water together. Think about all the fun sunset beach walks you can do! It’s the perfect time for you both to enjoy being an owner and a pet. So, I wanted to make sure you guys had some great options for the water. Here are 7 pet finds for the water that we think you will enjoy. Plus, Walter and I already tried a few of these out and hope you will too. Happy splashing!

  • Dog Float

This inflatable dog float is a great pet find for the water, whether it be the pool or lake. It will keep your dog cool by allowing a small flow of water to come in and out of the sitting area but give them the feeling of security. Plus, it’s lightweight but still durable enough to be claw friendly and folds up when not in use.

  • Outward Hound Granby Splash Orange Dog Life Jacket

As much as we love playing in and around the water, I have to be careful with Walter because of his breed. Barrel chested dogs are top heavy are not made for swimming. And then there’s Walter who absolutely loves it. Due to his potential safety issue though he always has to wear this Granby lifejacket from Outward Hound whenever we are near water. And if your dog’s as extra as Walter, you can also thread a pool noodle through the handles for added flotation (insert eye roll here).

  • Non-Slip Splash Pad for Dogs

If you purchase nothing else from this list of fun pet finds for the water, grab this non-slip splash pad. I know it’s not technically for water, but it can’t work without so let’s just turn a blind eye. A splash pad can be so much fun, and this version comes in five different size, some large enough to fit the entire family.
