I’ve been on the air at WRIF since 2010 so I’ve definitely shared quite a few of my stories over the years, but I’m sure there’s a few things you may not know. The basics are in my bio on the website so if you haven’t checked that out yet, click HERE for the starter kit.

  • My older brother is also a type 1 diabetic:

I’ve always been very open about being Type 1 Diabetic but did you know my brother Jason is also T1D? It’s kinda ironic, because as far as we know, NO ONE else in our family has diabetes. He was diagnosed in 1991 at the age of 7. I was then diagnosed 10 years later at the age of 13. Fun fact: Jason was the 11th person at U of M Hospital to get on an insulin pump. He’s been on it ever since. I’ve worn mine for 19 years.

  • I had dreams of competing in the Olympics:

True story. I started figure skating when I was 7 years old and fell in love with it! By the time I was 11, I was competing regularly, skating at 4am before school, heading right back to the rink after school and really thought I could make it. I also did precision skating and competed with the Plymouth Gems on Ice. Eventually I had to choose between skating and playing softball. I chose softball which I kinda regret now.

  • I played softball and was a pitcher:

You coulda figured this one out from the last one. I started playing tee ball when I was maybe 5? I played rec league for South Lyon up until  the 7th grade when I started travel fast pitch. I was a pitcher and when I wasn’t on the mound I played 3rd base. I made the South Lyon High School Varsity team in 10th grade. I was a designated hitter, pitched and played 3rd base. Turns out, I’m extremely competitive so after high school, I kinda hung it up. Then someone at work needed a substitute for the stations beer league team. We played until the recent pandemic. I’d love to get back into it although these days I’m much better in the outfield.

  • I love to fly a kite:

We fly kites every year on Easter as family tradition. If nothing else, flying a kite can help you determine how out of shape you are. Also, it helps to have a windy day.

  • I like to draw, although I'm not very good:

I’ve never been great at art, but a few years ago I started “Doodle Tuesday.” I would doodle something on a sticky note and give it to my boss. Obviously some were better than others. I ended up getting a sketch book and drawing some bigger pictures although I haven’t done much as of late.

  • I'm a travel enthusiast:

I’d love to visit every country in the world, but alas, I have to work. I have been to quite a few states including Alaska and a handful of different countries. Costa Rica was the last big trip and I’m hoping to get back out there soon!

  • I LOVE the band Ghost:

Pretty sure that one is not new information, but did you know I got to be a nun on stage for the band? We were able to bring a winner up on stage and she obviously needed a station escort. I was also in the music video for ‘He Is’ which was filmed here in Detroit. Check it out HERE!

  • I was a wedding DJ:

For a long time. I also DJed at the Elwood for all the Lions tailgates and at Motor City Casino inside the radio bar. It was a fun gig, but it could get really stressful and as I started doing more things at the station, I had less time to run around town DJing all the parties. I did get to visit some iconic locations in Metro Detroit and even met Sparty at a wedding once!

  • I loved the soap 'All My Children':

LOVED IT! It was the soap my mom watched when I was growing up and we used to watch it together. Then, when I went to college I would actually schedule my classes around it so I could make it back to my apartment in time. My roommate would come home and ask me if I was watching my stories. Fun fact: There were quite a few big names in ‘All My Children’ like Kelly Ripa, Josh Duhamel, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michael B. Jordan, Amanda Seyfried and my first celebrity crush, Jesse McCartney. My mom even took me to Builder Square (yeah, who remembers Builder Square) to meet one of the actors!

  • I have 3 siblings:

You already know about Jason, but I also have a half brother and sister, John and Dennise. They live in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, so we don’t get to see each other very often, but when we do it’s always a riot. I’m the youngest of the group and we’ve all had our own special memories. Like Dennise and I went to see Justin Timberlake at LCA, and I went to see the Lions play the Eagles with John in Philly.
