Tim “Ripper” Owens is my guest today on Talkin’ Rock. He’ll be swinging through the Motor City at the Token on April 4th. We discuss his busy 2020, some of which he can’t talk about yet. We talk about his relationship with Ronnie James Dio, singing his songs, as well as the hologram thing. Obviously, we talked about the snubbing of Judas Priest by the Rock Hall and his thoughts. Ripper tells me about playing with K.K. Downing and David Ellefson last November, plus, politics in music and the changing times with social media. He always has Monster Energy stuff on, so I wondered how his endorsement deal with them started. We finish off the interview with his thoughts on the passing of Neil Peart.
Al Beck joins in to give us the latest rock news. Rush’s catalog has obviously jumped big time since the passing of Neil. He tells us about a rocker fighting through some medical issues as he prepares for a massive tour. Another rocker has a pretty cool documentary coming out this year, as one band celebrates it’s 25th anniversary. To wrap it up we discuss a really cool gift the Boston Bruins gave goalie Tuukka Rask for a milestone game
Thanks so much for listening!
