Sting Sells His Catalog to Universal in 9-Figure Deal
Sting has joined the growing number of artists who are cashing in on massive catalog deals.
The singer-songwriter sold his entire catalog — both solo and his music with The Police — to Universal Music Publishing Group. The deal was announced by Universal today (February 10) with Sting saying in a statement, “It is absolutely essential to me that my career’s body of work have a home where it is valued and respected – not only to connect with longtime fans in new ways but also to introduce my songs to new audiences, musicians and generations.”
While Universal did not disclose the price tag of this deal, The New York Times reports the deal is worth at least $250 million or more.
