Badflower Releases New Song, ‘Teacher Has a Gun’
It’s been a whopping three years since Badflower has released a new song, and now, they’re out with a new one, “Teacher Has a Gun,” on Big Machine Rock. The song comes shortly after the band announced a new tour, the 2024 No Place Like Home Tour announcement. The song has a controversial name, and it shows off the band’s knack for turning serious topics into art.

“Controversial on its face, everything isn’t what it seems in this tale of paranoia run amok,” a press release explains. “Sometimes it’s easy to feel like everyone has it out for you. Unapologetic and uncensored, Badflower remains the band you can rely on to cut through frivolity and aim straight for the gut, churning hard-to-swallow topics into satisfyingly digestible bangers.”
The song comes with a video that shows the “world strewn in paranoia from the eyes of the beholder provides audiences with a jagged, raw presentation of reality.” It’s a crazy video, so watch with caution.
“Feeling like everyone’s out to get you and that everyone’s violent and that everybody has a gun, literally or figuratively, is a real feeling for a lot of people – especially in America,” frontman Josh Katz said in a statement. “We spun that in a way that made sense for us and in the way we make art, and we hope people like it. I think the cohesiveness of our band is in our honesty – the unapologetic nature of it, and as long as that’s there, then to me, we’ve done our jobs.”
The band’s upcoming, headlining No Place Like Home Tour this fall will feature support from Slothrust and Missio on select U.S. dates. Find more information and tickets at Badflowermusic.com.
