Palaye Royale acoustic performance at the WRIF.
Recorded April 9, 2024, at the WRIF Studio
Sebastian, Remington, and Emerson from Palaye Royale stopped by the WRIF Studios to perform for the staff. The brothers played three songs, "Hang On To Yourself," "Desire," and "Dead to Me."
Later, they sat down with Meltdown to talk about their career, their start on the Disney Channel, advice for Kiss' Gene Simmons, and their emotional challenges touring around the world.
If you are a fan of Palaye Royale or have never heard of them, take a listen to their performance. It was pretty amazing.
Background on Palaye Royale
Palaye Royale is a fashion-art rock band known for blending old-school glam and modern garage rock from Las Vegas.
The band is made up of three Canadian-American brothers: Remington Leith, Sebastian Danzig, and Emerson Barrett.
They first rose to fame on Radio Disney's "Next Big Thing" in 2009, known as Kropp Circle, but later changed their name to Palaye Royal.
Palaye Royale's music combines theatrical vocals, energetic guitar riffs, and a strong visual aesthetic that reflects their influences from 60s rock and roll and contemporary fashion.
The band is currently on an International tour for the summer of 2024.
Their fans are referred to as "Soldiers of the Royal Council."

Palaye Royale In Studio At WRIF
Sebastian, Remington, and Emerson from Palaye Royale were friendly enough to stop by the station before their show earlier this week. After playing three songs for the staff, they hopped into the studio with me to discuss the band.
I had seen on X that Remington said that Songs For Sadness was very personal to him. He spoke about how his mother's illness has affected each of them, who are brothers. Being on the road and leaving their mother is always hard. This was a very touching part of the interview. I wish nothing but the best for Mama Royale.
The guys talked about the dichotomy of how Palaye Royale writes songs. Sebastian said Remington brings a lot to the lyrics. Even though he's the drummer, Emerson is good on the piano, and each of them brings something different. "We had eighty songs - for the upcoming album - so we narrowed them down to ten," Remington told me. He also said, "If there's not a deadline, I will tinker with it" when talking about recording songs.
They also talked about the success they've found overseas. Over here in the States, they've opened for many bands, but they're looking to do a headlining tour of their own. They're playing Wembley Arena in November. Sebastian said Gene Simmons gave them some great advice early on, which they still use today.
The band started on the Disney channel. They discussed the difference between playing Disney shows and going off alone for shows. They went from playing to big crowds to playing to empty rooms.
I was shocked to hear that the guys were hockey players, as their family has roots in Canada. I didn't think we'd be talking about that during this interview!
