Richie Sambora will be in attendance at the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year event, which is honoring Jon Bon Jovi.
This news was confirmed by Roger Friedman of Showbiz 411. It’s unknown whether Sambora will perform at the event, but a list of performers will be unveiled soon.
As previously reported, JBJ joins an impressive list of artists who’ve been named MusiCares Person of the Year. Recent honorees include Dolly Parton, Fleetwood Mac and Joni Mitchell. MusiCares is the philanthropic arm of the Recording Academy, the group that organizes the Grammy Awards. The Person of the Year honor has gone to a number of legendary musicians for their dedication to service.
Executive Director of MusiCares Laura Segura said in a statement, “MusiCares is thrilled to honor Jon Bon Jovi at the 2024 Person of the Year Gala … His long-standing commitment to serving food-insecure and unhoused individuals inspires us all.”
The Person of the Year gala event will take place on February 2 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Of course, this is another hopeful sign for Bon Jovi fans who have been “Livin’ on a Prayer” that Sambora would rejoin the band. The former Bon Jovi guitarist left the band back in 2013. However, he and every other past and present member of the band fully cooperated in a newly announced docuseries.
Earlier this week, it was revealed Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story will premiere on Hulu on Friday, April 26. Hulu promises the docuseries will delve into the band’s “most public moments of friction,” which, obviously, includes Sambora’s exit.
In November 2023, Sambora mentioned in an interview with People, “There’s a documentary that’s being done about the band and stuff that I’ve participated in, and people want to come see us play, and it’s going to make everybody happy. I mean, essentially, that’s why you do it at this point.”
