10 Great Songs from The Cult…(that aren’t Fire Woman)
THE CULT ARE COMING TO DETROIT! Okay now that I got that out of the way… Anybody who knows me or even talks to me for more than 5 seconds knows I am a HUGE fan of The Cult. My love affair with the band started at age 12 when a childhood friend introduced me to ‘Love’. I used to say I’d listen to Ian Astbury sing the phone book. (remember those?) The Cult’s popularity peaked with their quintessential rocker ‘Fire Woman’. But my dear friend, let me reassure you there’s more where that came from. Like DECADES more great music. I consider myself a Cult connoisseur. So trust me when I say you should definitely check out these 10 songs from The Cult.
Spritwalker- ‘Dreamtime’ released 1984
Nirvana – ‘Love’ 1985
True Believers – ‘Beyond Good and Evil’ 2001
Star – ‘The Cult’ 1994
White – ‘Ceremony’ 1991
Hinterland – ‘Hidden City’ 2016
Lucifer – ‘Choice of Weapon’ 2012
Rain -‘Love’ 1985
Wild Flower – ‘Electric’ 1987 *Fun fact* Ian Astbury laughed his ass off when I told him I stole my first copy of this album from the library.
She Sells Sanctuary – ‘Love’ 1985 (this one is a no brainer)
Trust me, this list could have easily been 50+ songs! But start here. Then get your tickets to go see The Cult July 27th at Meadow Brook Amphitheatre. They’re playing with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Oh God don’t get me started on my love for those guys. More on BRMC later.
