All I can say is, WOW! What an episode of Haunted Michigan. Retired reverend, Gerry Hunter joins me to discuss all things paranormal. Ironically enough, he has a book series titled, Haunted Michigan, so he’s the perfect guest! You can see and order his books below, or at the event on Monday in South Lyon.

We start by talking about his experience. He didn’t get into this recently, he’s had a fascination with this kind of stuff since he was a child, living in an actual haunted house in Brooklyn, Michigan. He tells me about things he’s seen there, and about his upbringing in that old farmhouse.

He tells me about an experience he had at the Henderson Castle in Kalamazoo. I’ve stayed there and nothing happened that I noticed, but that place is crazy.

Gerry will be hosting a Ghost Story Dinner on Monday, October 16th at the South Lyon Hotel. Let’s just say that he’s no stranger to events that have taken place there. He told me a story that literally had the hair on my arms standing up. It may be one of the craziest stories I’ve heard doing this series, and there’s pictures to back it up! I posted the photo that goes along with the story below. It involves a member of the cleaning crew and a spirit that was tormenting her.

Gerry also talked about his investigation of the Seul Choix lighthouse in Gulliver, in the U.P.. Wait until you hear the story of what he heard there while climbing the stairs at that location!

A huge Thank You to Gerry for agreeing to come on the show. I’ll see you guys Monday at the South Lyon Hotel.

Haunted Michigan Author To Appear At The South Lyon Hotel
  • "What do you want?"

This is insane! Gerry took this picture after a female employee of the South Lyon Hotel was confronted by a spirit in the old building. This took place about ten years ago. After yelling at the spirit “What do you want?”, she was thrown and said her back was burning. That says UOY, or YOU backward.

  • picture from the Seul Choix Lighthouse

    Gerry Hunter

According to Gerry -This is the photo from Seul Choix Lighthouse. I had set up my motion sensitive camera in the kitchen of the keeper’s house. No one was allowed to enter the area. The figure of the woman in the background is a mannequin. The left side of the photo picks up a man wearing a heavy uniform jacket and pants, the exact type worn by the keeper in photos they have on site. It shows him from about the armpit down to the leg area. The photo immediately preceding this one was totally dark, indicating he had appeared closeup to the camera and blocked out everything else. Then this one snapped as he passed by.

  • a picture from the Gettysburg battlefield

    Gerry Hunter

This is not from Michigan, but Gerry sent it over so I wanted to share. Here’s what he said about this picture.
I visited Gettysburg in 1996 with my in-laws, just for tourist/history buff reasons. At the scene of Pickett’s charge, there is a copse of trees and a cannon. I thought it would make a great photo for my desk. I was using 35mm film back then, and I took three photos of the site. Upon development, two of the photos are just the trees and the cannon. This photo shows the trees, cannon and a woman in old style clothing, hair in a bun, blouse up to her neck and down to her wrists, the skirt down to the ground. It was a blistering hot and humid day and we were the only ones anywhere near this site at the time.
