Happy National Sibling Day! Here’s a list of some of my favorite bands that have brothers, and in once case, a sister, in them.

It’s always astounding me that siblings could reach the pinnacle of their preferred profession. Even in sports. I mean, what are the chances to two or three brothers could play hockey, race in NASCAR, reach the NFL or MLB? The statistics are mind-blowing. Same with music. As you’ll see, many have done it and reached the peak of the rock world.

  • Pantera - Vinnie Paul and "Dimebag" Darrell

The first band that comes to mind when you mention siblings, is Pantera. Dime and V.P. had a magical bond outside of being brothers. The story goes that Dave Mustaine actually wanted Darrell to join Megadeth, but he wouldn’t because he couldn’t bring Vinnie along. This, by the way, was before Pantera broke it big.

  • Van Halen - Eddie and Alex

Another easy one. Just like the Abbott brothers above, the Van Halen brother were attached at the hip.

  • AC/DC - Malcom and Angus

The Young brothers are another pair where one goes along with the other. The brothers that didn’t veer too far from each other as far as musical acts were concerned.

  • Greta Van Fleet - The Kiszka Brothers

Here’s a band with three brothers! Here in Michigan, we know their story pretty well. I loved their first album, liked their second. New music coming from the guys this year.

  • Stone temple pilots - The DeLeo Brothers

I’ve had the pleasure to interview and meet these guys a bunch of times. Hell, I saw them play for 25 people in 1992 before they broke. Another awesome musical sibling connection.

  • Halestorm - Lzzy and Arejay Hale

The brother and sister pair are not only really talented, they’re some of the nicest people in the music business.

  • Rob Zombie and Spider One from powerman 5000

Even though these guys play in different bands, I love their music so I’ll include them.

  • Oasis - The Gallagher Brothers

Ok, you might think I’m crazy, but there’s a few things I like about these guys. First off, they have a very “Beatle” like sound that I love. Secondly, they do not shy away from slinging dirt at each other or openly talking crap. They do not hold back. You have to respect that, right? LOL
