If this past weekend in Michigan didn’t get you fired up for the summer, nothing will! What a beautiful weekend of sun and fun.

It got me thinking about songs that give you that summertime feeling. Here’s a list of songs that might put you in that spirit if you’re not there already.

• Kid Rock - All Summer Long

  A summer classic in these parts. Rock meshed his own creation with Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama” and Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves Of London”. Toss in a video that oozes summer, you’ve got a summertime hit.

• Eric Church - Springsteen

  I know, he’s a country guy. But you can’t deny the lyrics “Funny how a melody sounds like a memory…Like a soundtrack to a July Saturday night”. Plus, he’s kind of a rocker, too.

• Van Halen - Summer Nights

  This song just stirs up images of summertime parties. Maybe the perfect summer song? It’s pretty close if not. Oh, and let’s not forget about that great Eddie Van Halen riff. I’ll toss in “Ice Cream Man” for good measure, too.

• Alice Cooper - School's Out

  Every kid sings this song around this time of year. Hell, I just saw a story where a dad embarrassed his kid by singing this to him as he was getting off the bus. When this song plays, summer is underway!

• Don Henley - Boys Of Summer

  I love this song and this album, Building The Perfect Beast. You can just envision summer when listening to this classic.

• Y&T - Summertime Girls

  Another no-brainer. You can imagine a video filled with bikini clad women, and, yes, the video does not disappoint.

• Electric Light Orchestra - Mr. Blue Sky

  “Sun is shinin’ in the sky
  There ain’t a cloud in sight
  It’s stopped rainin’ everybody’s in the play
  And don’t you know
  It’s a beautiful new day, hey hey”

  Another songs that’s bound to put you in the summer spirit!

• Billy Idol - Hot In The City

  From his 1982 album, this songs summons up images for a steamy summer night in the big city.

• David Lee Roth - Yankee Rose

  The perfect song to play around the Independence Day holiday. A Red, White and Blue classic!

• Bryan Adams - Summer Of '69

  Yes, it has “summer” in the title, but you can totally imagine him that summer grabbing a guitar and learning to play. “I got my first real six-string. Bought it at the five and dime. Played it ’til my fingers bled. Was the summer of ’69” A great song and video about a summer gone by.

• Beach Boys - Any Song

  The Beach Boys are a band built for summer. At the beach, on the street driving hot rods, or any other warm weather activity. Pick a song, any song! I guess I’ll pick “Kokomo”.

• Van Halen - Beautiful Girls

  Ok, one more from “Diamond” Dave and Van Halen. Classic summertime vibe song.
