Riffs of Summer

I feel it in the air, the summer's nearly out of reach. It won't be long before those boys of summer are gone, and the 101 Riffs Of Summer along with it. However, we've still got a couple of weeks of epic "riffs" ahead of us, so let's hold onto them while we can.

This week was another gem with the 101 Riffs Of Summer. We had some classics that spanned across several decades and generations. One of my favorite things about the playlist this week, was it featured a lot of local Detroit-bred talent, like I Prevail. Speaking of them, Riff Fest is rapidly approaching, and they're one of our headliners this year. Can't wait.

Also featured on the playlist this week were bands like Tesla, Seether, and more. Looking at the playlist, we covered all types of rock and roll this week. We had some metal, some glam, and everywhere in-between. Make sure to listen Monday through Friday at 2pm when Jade will play the daily "Riff Of Summer!" Plus, you'll get two "riffs" on Two-Fer Tuesdays doubling up on some of your favorite WRIF bands.

Previously, we've highlighted bands like Rage Against The Machine, Metallica, Jimi Hendrix, and more. The catalogue goes deep and it goes way back, covering all different aspects and angles of rock and roll throughout the years. Great "Riffs" happened back in the '60s, and they're still happening today. With the 101 Riffs of Summer, we hope to cover all of your favorites spanning across multiple generations and decades.

If you missed any of the "Riffs" this week, check out the playlist below, along with the playlist from previous weeks, as well. Then, continue reading to hear about an awesome contest with a rocking Grand Prize! Time is quickly running out, and I'd hate for you to miss out on this opportunity!

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
