101 RIFFS OF SUMMER

Summer is here and 101 WRIF is celebrating with the 101 Riffs Of Summer! All summer, we’re going to be spotlighting songs with some of the most epic “riffs” from your favorite WRIF bands. Make sure to listen Monday through Friday at 2pm for the daily “Riff Of Summer!” Plus, you’ll get two “riffs” on Two-Fer Tuesdays. Thank goodness for alliteration, eh?

Maybe you’re on the go, maybe you’re busier than usual, maybe you missed the first week of the 101 Riffs of Summer. It happens, we get it and we have your back. Here’s the amazing awesomeness you missed during the first week of 101 Riffs Of Summer while you were away.

  • Tuesday, May 30th

    Pantera – “Cowboys From Hell”

    The title track from Pantera’s fifth studio album released in July of 1990. Fans, and the band itself, refer to it as their official debut.

    Pantera – “I’m Broken”

    From their 1994 album Far Beyond Driven. The late Dimebag Darrell said it started as a sound check riff.

  • Wednesday, May 31st

    Judas Priest – “Living After Midnight”

    This track was first featured on the band’s first gold album in the United States, British Steel.

  • Thursday, June 1st

    HELLYEAH – “Alcohaulin’ Ass”

    The second single from their 2007 self-titled album.

  • Friday, June 2nd

    Van Halen – “Ain’t Talking ‘Bout Love”

    The song was released in October of 1978 as the third single from their self-titled album. Readers of Guitar World ranked it as the fifth-best metal riff of all-time.
