Well, that was a first for me. I don't think I've been to a show at Pine Knob where the band didn't play. Avenged Sevenfold was suppose to take the stage at 9:10. After many strikes of lightning, the time kept being pushed back. At one point Zacky Vengeance messaged me that they were thinking about a 9:55 start. Around 9:50 the music in the pavilion stopped, but nothing happened on stage. That went on for a few minutes until more lightning had the fans taking shelter under the pavilion.

As the time ticked away I went back stage to see what the plan was. Shortly after 10 pm I heard a police officer say "That's it, we're done." The show was not going to happen.

The guys in the band were obviously bummed out, but they still made time to fulfill their meet and greet with some fans, after meeting with a special fan for Make-A-Wish. That was really cool, as I stayed back and watched from afar as this young man showed the band video of him playing guitar. The guys asked him questions and showed interest in everything he had to say. A truly nice few moments on what was a horrible end to the day at Pine Knob. The boy and his family seemed to really enjoy their private time with A7X, taking pictures and getting items autographed. Definitely a highlight of the day for me.

I took some pictures, but I didn't get permission (as of now) from Make A Wish - a GREAT organization - to post them, so I won't. Here's some others from the M&G after the show.

It was cool to see M. Shadows again. I hung with him in Nashville a couple years ago. He came right over to me and gave me a hug, as we talked for a few minutes. Same with ZV, Synyster Gates and Johnny Christ, who shared a handshake with me. I never met Brooks Wackerman before, but he seemed really nice.

Man, I really wanted to see some of these new songs come alive on stage...I guess it'll have to wait till next time. Shadows Tweeted out late last night that Detroit's owed a special show....bring it!
