Ever since I did the story about the Michigan Museum of Horror, people have told me that I needed to visit the Anatomy of Death in Mt Clemens....yesterday, was the day I did. It's located at 292 Cass ave, just outside of downtown.
As I walked in, I was greeted by owner, Todd LaRosa, who explained the whole place to me. He's so proud of the museum. He told me all about how he gets his pieces, the charitable stuff he does for the local community, as well as the paranormal investigations that have taken place there. Of course we had to talk a little music, and motorcycles, too, but I'll save that for another post. LOL
He said the museum has 60 real human skulls, 13 skeletons, and over a 1,000 bones. As I was there, people were coming and going. He told me they get about 400 guests per weekend! They're open Wednesday - Sunday.
I'll just say this, it's a lot of death!
It's definitely worth the trek to Mt Clemens some weekend to check out this "off the beaten path" local gem.
-Meltdown-

Lowering the body into the casket.

A casket used to bring bodies back from overseas, with funeral flags magnetized to it.

One of the many full skeletons you can see at the Anatomy of Death.

This is the view as you go through the body bad curtains to enter the museum.

Some of the human skulls you'll find at the AOD. Bones, as well, that were used to teach medical students.

This was one of my favorite displays. Weird!

I can honestly say I've never seen a rectum plug used in embalming. I can check that off the list.

One of several chariots that took people to their final resting place.

...and another.

More funeral artifacts.

Did I mentioned they have real human skeletons there?

I met some wild characters while I was there!

I hope this isn't one of the real human skeletons. LOL

In the lobby you can buy all sorts of stuff from t-shirts to art work and more.

The sign that greets you as you walk in.
