It was a picture perfect night for a concert, as 3 Doors Down and Candlebox rocked the Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre to kick off a summer of concerts. All winter long I dream of nights like last night. Outdoor shows, no coats, great music and rock fans!
I went with famed producer/mixer, Toby Wright. Funny story…he was telling me about what a mess the first 3DD album was when he got it to mix. Literally, a minute later, singer Brad Arnold told the same story of the first album and welcomed Toby from the stage, as he asked everyone to give Toby a big applause. Pretty cool!
3DD ripped through and hour and a half of hits, deep cuts and one song that never made an album, finishing with “Landing in London” and “Kryptonite”.
Kevin Martin and Candlebox oped the show to what sounded like someone turning the station on a radio in the early 90s, with Soundgarden and other grunge staples. It finally hit on the DJ talking, introducing the band. Their our long set included songs from their 30 year career, ending with the hits “Far Behind” and “You”.
Great to see everyone last night! Concerts are back for the summer of 2023.
