I did this interview a couple of months ago and was just given the OK by the record company to release it. The Metallica machine is starting to ramp up and there’s a date right here in Detroit with Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat at Comerica park on July 12th. That should be a great night on the diamond.
Robert is always great to talk to and this time around is nothing different. He talks about a couple songs he can’t wait to play live on the new cd, the physicality of playing Metallica’ music, the musicianship with the rest of the band, how he discovered the “art of simplicity”. He also told me about trying out for the band and what kind of state he was in that day, his thoughts on doing live tv and a lot more.
