This podcast is so inspirational. Jarrod Montague is the original drummer from Taproot, and I guess raising five kids and working in the corporate world doesn’t keep him busy enough, so he’s written a book! Jarrod went through some of the most popular self-help books and found certain similarities, then combined them all in his book…mixed with rock tales from Taproot.
He talks about the band and how they were discovered with the help of Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit, and how that relationship soured. How Layne Staley got an early copy of one of their cd’s, producer Toby Wright’s in-your-face style, also about putting yourself out there….take a chance. That’s just the tip of the iceberg as far as this conversation goes. Jarrod may be listening to ‘yacht rock’ and watching “The Voice”, but he’s got a great head on his shoulders and is pretty inspirational.
You can check out Taproot on December 23rd at the Token lounge in Westland as they celebrate their 20th anniversary. To order his book, which I highly suggest, punch up www.squareup.com/store/truerockstars and be sure to follow him on Instagram at true_rockstars and Twitter @truerockstars.
