Cosm Detroit will launch this fall in downtown Detroit. The venue features a planetarium-style LED dome that gives a 180-degree viewing experience for sports and entertainment. CEO Jeb Terry announced this week that construction remains on track, according to Axios Detroit.
The building uses "shared reality" technology to replicate sitting inside a live stadium. Terry shared a seven-minute tour on social media.
Workers have erected the dome structure. Framing and installation continue. Crews are constructing a multilevel space designed to keep fans circulating between bars and other areas. A new lounge concept appears in the plans. A tunnel-style entry into the dome mimics walking into a stadium, and VIP-style suites round out the design.
The Detroit location is part of Bedrock's mixed-use Development at Cadillac Square. The site sits near pro stadiums in the heart of downtown, where a streetscape renovation is underway in Greektown.
When the venue opens, Detroit will join Dallas and Los Angeles as a Cosm location. Atlanta will get its own building in June.
A fall opening would sync with Lions' season and a potential Tigers playoff run. The timing positions the venue to capture football fans and baseball supporters during peak sports months.
