Macomb Community College will host a free dental care event for kids ages 3 to 18. It runs from 8 a.m. to noon on Feb. 21. The school's dental hygiene clinic at 27956 College Park Drive in Warren will hold the event.
Give Kids a Smile Day will provide dental exams, cleanings, x-rays, and sealants at no cost.
The program targets families without dental insurance or those who can't pay.
"Our goal is to reach underserved families, such as children who may not have dental insurance or whose families can't afford certain services," said Wendi Sparks, the associate dean of dental sciences at the college, according to Macomb Daily. "Access to care is essential, and we want the community to know that we are here to help."
The college held this event for the first time in 2025, when staff gave 61 free dental services to 10 children during that inaugural year.
Sparks wrote in a press release that she hopes the 2026 event will build awareness of opportunities available for families seeking free preventive dental services for their children. A balloon artist will entertain kids during the day.
The Michigan Dental Association's Public Relations Grant Program gave $4,000 to support the event. The Macomb District Dental Society received the grant and partnered with the college to make the program possible.
Families can register by emailing Dental@Macomb.edu.
