An 18-year-old has become famous after saving his neighbors from a fire wearing only his briefs. I bet he wishes he was given a cooler nickname for the heroic act.

Saving your neighbors from a fire in their apartment can get you a cool reputation in the neighborhood. Having a nickname like "Underpants Man" might hurt that cool reputation a little bit, I imagine. Especially when you're only 18. It can be a time where you feel like your perception really matters and you want to look cool to your friends and members of the opposite sex. I'm not sure if anyone wants to date "Underwear Man." The incident happened in China and Zhu Ye, the 18-year-old now known as Underwear Man, jumped into action when he discovered his neighbor's apartment was on fire one evening. With no time to spare, he rushed into the apartment in only his briefs and evacuated the couple out of the home safely.

What started it all? According to SCMP, the elderly man's electric wheelchair battery exploded and caught fire. The elderly woman in the apartment was so surprised by what was happening she reportedly didn't notice her leg was on fire. Sounds like a chaotic scene!

The couple's daughter later gave an interview to the news thanking the man who saved her parents in his underwear and the Underwear Man nickname was born. A teacher of his tells SCMP that he's not surprised by his heroic actions. Sounds like this kid has a good head on his shoulders!

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
