A man in Tanzania was handed quite the surprise when he was told he'd been living with a knife in his chest for 8 years. How would you not feel that?

This is why if you're feeling any discomfort, it's good to go to the doctor. By going in a timely manner, you might be able to avoid some bigger problems. According to Mirror, a man was treated at Muhimbili National Hospital in Tanzania when doctors found a large knife blade lodged between his chest that had been there for 8 years! Reports say the 44-year-old man had been complaining of pus discharge below his right nipple and doctors were confused because that was the only symptom. That would certainly be alarming! Finally, he recalled an incident from nearly a decade ago and that helped them unlock what was going on.

According to Mirror, the man sustained several cuts all around his body during a violent altercation years prior. Doctors treated him at the time but sounds like they might have missed that blade that was lodged in his thorax. Thankfully, it didn't pierce or affect any major organs and he was able to live with it where it was.

Doctors were able to remove the knife blade via surgery and he had all his pus drained. He stayed in ICU and was then transferred to the general ward so doctors could monitor his progress. Sounds like he's expected to fully recover.

This happens more often than you'd think! People are always finding strange objects inside of them that either were never removed, never found, or left there accidentally.
