Ecuadorian soccer player Jackson Rodriguez went through one of the scariest things you could possibly go through at his home in Guayaquil this week. Intruders reportedly kidnapped his wife and 5-year-old daughter while he hid from the kidnappers under the bed, per Yahoo!. He could even hear the intruders questioning his wife about his whereabouts while he was hiding under the bed. That had to have been incredibly scary.

According to Yahoo!, Rodriguez said he looked out the window after the abduction and saw the kidnappers in a gray-colored double-cab pickup truck. It sounds like crime in the area has been high recently and Ecuador even declared a state of emergency in 9 areas throughout the country, including where this took place. There have been an uptick in abductions and violent deaths, per Yahoo!

Targeting soccer players seems to be a common theme as well. Back in December, soccer player Pedro Perlaza was rescued by police after he was held captive at a house located in a rural area, per Yahoo!

Hopefully his family is alright! There's no word on their condition or location right now. This would be a terrible thing to go through.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
