Good afternoon to everybody who's reading this; I've got some very exciting news to share with you. For the past few months now, I've been hosting Your New Favorite Song and I've been able to share so much cool new music. (I hope by now you've found at least one song that you are able to call a new favorite.) And while it's been business as usual for quite some time now, I'm excited to announce that now the scope of this show is now expanding to include interviews!

That's right folks, we dusted off the video camera and did our research before hand, and we here at the RIFF2 are excited to present to you the interview that I did with Australia's own trash-queen, Queenie!

It was nearly an hour long (lots of yappin I know) and we covered a wide berth of subjects over the course of the conversation. We talked about her growing up in Tasmania and being raised in a musical family, about the songwriting process that she's developed over the course of her musical career, and also about the eels that swim in the gorge of her hometown! There's a little bit of something for everybody here.

Last summer, Queenie released her debut album under her new moniker, and that name of the album was New Moult. We talked quite a bit about the recording and writing process that went into the creation of the album, and personally I think that was some of the most interesting stuff that we covered. She talked about how conceptualized demos tends to be a singular process, but the process of collaborating with other producers to complete the song has been a learning process that has yielding entertaining results. She also talked about the special environment that the album was recorded in and how that ended up creating an ambience that ended up being the glue that helped to give the album its cohesive feeling. Which is all the more impressive, given that there's a really nice variety of upbeat alt rock songs and slower piano led ballads, and the blend of both works very well. But don't take my word for it, listen to her album. And listen to my interview!

That's all I got for now folks, I hope you enjoy.
