Flight Risk Movie Review: This Movie Barely Gets Off The Ground

I didn’t want to see Flight Risk for a few reasons, one being that I’m not much of a flyer. As it turns out, that wasn’t one of the things…

I didn't want to see Flight Risk for a few reasons, one being that I'm not much of a flyer. As it turns out, that wasn't one of the things I didn't like about this movie. It's in theaters now, starring Mark Wahlberg, Topher Grace, and Michelle Dockery.

Reasons why I went to see it? I was bored, I typically like Mark Wahlberg movies, and it was directed by Mel Gibson. Even with all of that going for it, it was a letdown.

Flight Risk Is In Theaters Now

In a nutshell, a federal marshal must transport a witness out of a remote town in Alaska where he was holing up to try and evade capture. The plan goes awry in the air when it's revealed that the pilot isn't who they think he is. That leads to chaos in the air while the marshal is piecing together corruption on ground level.

I did roll my eyes a few times at the storylines. I'm not sure if it was the acting or just the absurd dialog, but the story seemed to be forced and not very intriguing. I will say Wahlberg did play an ominous villain. He was the best part of the movie, and that's not saying much.

Grace plays a neurotic character who's on the run from informing on a criminal enterprise. Dockery plays the marshal, whose job it is to get Grace to a closer outpost to testify, but while they're in the air, it comes out that her past is rocky, to say the least.

Like I said, there's a lot of cheese in telling the story. The aerial shots were pretty decent, but nothing great.

Overall, I'd say wait until it comes out on streaming, Flight Risk is not great. That being said, Mark Wahlberg managed to keep his shirt on throughout the entire film!

I'm giving it 2 out of 5 stars.
