During the 2025 Golden Globes, host Nikki Glaser set off an unexpected back-and-forth when she jokingly introduced Glenn Close as a "former drummer for System of a Down." This joke made its way back to SOAD guitarist Daron Malakian who had a funny response.

Malakian shared a clip of the joke on Instagram and captioned it, "Bet you didn’t know!!!! Bet you didn’t know!!!!! Somewhere between our first drummer and John [Dolmayan], Glenn Close was tearing sh-t up on the drums for us!!!!!!"

While the idea of legendary actress Glenn Close playing drums for SOAD likely tickled their fans, those fans are probably more pumped about the metal band's big stadium shows taking place in 2025.

As previously reported, System of a Down will be playing three stadium shows this year that each feature a major special guest. The first show is set for August 28 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. with Korn. The second show is on August 31 at Soldier Field in Chicago with Avenged Sevenfold. The third show is on September 3 at Rogers Stadium in Toronto with Deftones. Complete ticket and show details can be found at SystemOfADown.com.

The band's last official tour was in 2018, with the final show of that tour taking place on October 19, 2018 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. According to Setlist.fm, they have performed only 15 times since then. In 2024, they only performed two shows: A headlining set at Sick New World in Las Vegas on April 27 and a special one-day festival at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The latter show also featured Deftones and The Mars Volta.
