Reports from sources, including ESPN and the NFL, say that the Lions have added veteran DE Za'Darius Smith just before the NFL trade deadline.

This trade is set to shake things up—in a good way!

The Details

  • Browns Trade: Za'Darius Smith and a 2026 seventh-round pick.
  • Lions Trade: Our 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2026 sixth-round pick.

Why this matters

We've been on a roll, sitting comfortably at 7-1, but there's always room to grow. Our pass rush took a hit after Aidan Hutchinson's leg injury last month. With Smith on board, we're looking to UNLEASH the full potential of our defense.

Smith, 32, is no rookie. He's a three-time Pro Bowler with 65 career sacks over his 10 seasons with the Browns, Vikings, Packers, and Ravens. This season alone, he's already got five sacks in nine games!

Aidan Hutchinson update

Speaking of Hutchinson—he's been a BEAST! He had 7.5 sacks in just five games before his injury. We're all hoping for his speedy recovery, and the Lions haven't ruled out his return this season.

The Browns' situation

Meanwhile, Cleveland is struggling. They're 2-7 and have offloaded another star player, Amari Cooper, to the Bills. It looks like they're embracing a major rebuild.

What's next?

With six straight wins and Smith hopefully in the mix, the Lions are ready to ROAR louder than ever. Could this move take us to the Super Bowl?

Stay tuned, Lions fans. The best is yet to come!

Matt’s been in the media game his whole life. He kicked things off at WOVI, his high school station in Novi, MI, then hit the airwaves at Impact 89FM while at Michigan State. But after realizing he didn’t quite have the voice for radio, he made the jump to TV—spending 23 years working for CBS, FOX, and NEWSnet. Now, he’s come full circle, back in radio as Detroit’s Digital Program Director, making noise behind the scenes and keeping things running strong online.
