Green Day’s performance ignites the stage with fiery pyrotechnics during ‘The Saviors Tour’ at Comerica Park.

On September 4, 2024, Comerica Park was electric when Green Day’s "Saviors Tour" came through Detroit. Kicking off the evening, The Linda Lindas brought youthful energy and punk spirit to the stage. Their raw sound and dynamic performance quickly won over the crowd.

Rancid followed with a set of punk classics. Tim Armstrong’s gritty vocals, Matt Freeman’s relentless bass, and Lars Frederiksen’s raw guitar work kept the energy high, while Branden Steineckert's drumming drove the set with force.

The Smashing Pumpkins took the stage, bringing their signature blend of alt-rock and grunge. Billy Corgan’s vocals and the band’s tight, atmospheric instrumentation captivated the crowd. They played a mix of fan favorites, preparing the audience for the night’s final act.

Green Day headlined with an explosive performance, delivering hits from their landmark albums "Dookie" and "American Idiot." Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong led the charge with intensity, supported by Mike Dirnt on bass and Tré Cool on drums. Pyrotechnics lit up the sky as they closed out a night that Detroit fans won’t soon forget.

Matt’s been in the media game his whole life. He kicked things off at WOVI, his high school station in Novi, MI, then hit the airwaves at Impact 89FM while at Michigan State. But after realizing he didn’t quite have the voice for radio, he made the jump to TV—spending 23 years working for CBS, FOX, and NEWSnet. Now, he’s come full circle, back in radio as Detroit’s Digital Program Director, making noise behind the scenes and keeping things running strong online.
