Get To Know The Riff Fest 2024 Lineup: Godsmack
Riff Fest 2024 is now less than a month away and it’s a good time to get to know Godsmack–if you don’t already! They’ll be headlining the show this year and will close out the night and we cannot wait.
Since Godsmack is going to be a big part of Riff Fest 2024, being familiar with them is going to greatly enhance your experience. This way, you’ll know some of their songs (the hits and the B-sides) so you’re ready to hear them live. Plus, now you’ll be able to participate in conversations about the band and maybe even teach your friends a thing or two!
Who Is Godsmack?
The band Godsmack is from Lawrence, Massachusetts and was formed in 1995. The members of the band are Sully Erna (lead singer and rhythm guitar), Robbie Merrill (bass), Tony Rombola (lead guitar), and Shannon Larkin (drums). Previous members include Tommy Stewart, Lee Richards, and Joe D’Arco. Originally, the band went by The Scam but changed its name to Godsmack after recording one demo. They were a hit locally in Massachusetts thanks to songs like “Keep Away” and “Whatever” that earned them some recognition in New England.
They’ve since dropped 8 studio albums over their impressive career, one EP, a compilation album, and one live album, Live & Inspired. The band is probably best known for their hit songs including “I Stand Alone,” “Voodoo,” “and “”Awake,” and more. Their style ranges and has been described as post-grunge, nu metal, heavy metal, hard rock, and alternative metal. Their sound and genre can change from song to song which is something I really enjoy about the band–they can seemingly do it all. If you ask Meltdown, he’d tell you all about their epic drum circle that they do every show. It’s always a highlight of their live shows that fans eagerly anticipate and look forward to.
The band has been nominated for several Grammy Awards and took home Rock Artist Of The Year at the Billboard Awards in 2001. You can check out some of their hit songs and a street bit I made when they came to Pine Knob in 2023 below. If you’ve never had the chance to see them before, having your first time be at Riff Fest 2024 could be a great story to tell. It’s sure to be a great show. Hope to see you there!
