John 5 on Talkin' Rock with Meltdown

John 5 returns to Talkin' Rock with Meltdown. The native Detroiter is such a good dude and a great guitar player. You'll be able to see him plucking live right in front of you on September 8th at the Token Lounge in Westland, Michigan.

We talk about the final KISS show, in which he may have the last picture with Gene Simmons with his iconic makeup, a paranormal visit, and more.

John 5 Talks New Motley Crue

The band dropped the song "Dogs Of War" a few months back, but 5 says there's more where that came from. John told me he's unsure if there's an album in the future, or if they'll just keep releasing singles. "I’m not sure. I think we’re going to just drop songs. That’s what I’ve been doing personally for a long time. I’ll drop new songs and then put them together into a record, which I’ll sell at my shows. I like doing it this way because every song feels like a single. It’s really cool. Imagine if Van Halen did that, and every deep cut was a single. These bands work so hard on their songs, and nowadays, people just listen to the singles. I like doing it this way, but I don’t know what they’re going to do. I’m just along for the ride."

To say he's fired up to be part of the Crue is an understatement. "I’m just super psyched to be doing this and being a part of Mötley Crüe history. I’m loving every minute."

Watch The Interview With John 5 Below

John also spoke about the current state of his relationship with Rob Zombie, who he played with for 15 years before joining Motley. "You know, everyone I’ve ever played with, I’ve kept in touch with. I love positivity, and it makes my life better. But we haven’t engaged with each other recently. I haven’t reached out because I think if I do and he doesn’t respond, I’d be bummed. But I don’t think there’s any bad blood between us. We’re both super busy, so I think it’s just a matter of time."

John 5 Talks Paranormal

Our conversation took a turn to the paranormal side. I told 5 about a recent trip I took there, and how we caught some screams on video/audio. I asked him if he'd ever had an experience. "Funny you ask. I have had one. I was in my bedroom, and this figure appeared—a woman with her hair in a bun and wearing a nightgown. She was leaning against the door. I didn’t want to look away because I didn’t want her to disappear. I woke Rita up, but she couldn’t see it. As I got up, the figure dissipated like mist. The doorknob started shaking, and Rita saw that too. It was very strange."

You can hear the screams we captured here.

I'll see you at the Token Lounge on September 8th to see John live in concert.

Mötley Crüe And Theory Of A Deadman Rock Mid-Michigan

It was a perfect Michigan summer night for a concert as Motley Crue and Theory of a Deadman took to the stage at Soaring Eagle in Mount Pleasant.

Theory Of A Deadman

The boys from western Canada took to the stage at 7 pm and ripped through a set of hits and some cover songs as the sun shone on them. From "Santa Monica" to The Bitch Came Back" and "Bad Girlfriend," all the bases were covered during their hourlong set.

At one point, they broke into a cover of "Friends In Low Places" to announce their special guest, Garth Brooks. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to make the show....again. LOL

It's always a fun time seeing the guys when they're in the area.

Mötley Crüe Rocks Soaring Eagle

Around 8:30, Mötley took the stage and ripped through an hour and a half of their monstrous catalog. Opening with "Primal Scream," through "Too Fast For Love," including their latest song, "Dogs Of War," and even a cover song medley of Beatles, Ramones, and Beastie Boys songs, they played tunes from their 40-plus year career.

I thought Vince Neil sounded pretty good throughout the night, but for some reason, "Shout At The Devil" always sounded rough. Tommy Lee got some girls popping their tops, before sitting down behind the piano for "Home Sweet Home". Nikki Sixx looked great and in shape.

John 5 In Motley Crue

As I talked with some people around me, they seemed to think that adding Detroit's own John 5 to the lineup may have given the band new life. I may be biased, but 5 is one of the best guitarists I've ever seen. The guy is so good and fits into the band perfectly! He knows those songs forwards and back. He was note-perfect all night. It's such a pleasure to watch!

You'll be able to see him in a much more intimate venue at the Token Louge in September.

Check out a few pictures from the show below. It's great to see everyone's show!

Tyler from Theory was pretty proud of his shirt. The Canadian born singer/songwriter resides in the states now. His hair: once again, perfect!

Minty was nice enough to grab a photo with me and the Theory boys before their set. Always great seeing them.

John 5 was on-point Sunday night, which is to be expected every time he takes the stage. He knows these songs so well. There's not a lick he can't play.

During the new song "Dog Of War" AI video of the band played behind them, like in the actual video. That song ripped live!

During "Girls, Girls, Girls" a couple blowup girls appeared on stage. This was their second to last song of the night.

What a show from the Crue, a band a saw for the first time a few years ago....like many years ago. I don't even want to say. Let's just say they were my first concert, and leave it at that.
