Detroiter and guitar phenom, John 5, is coming back to The Token Lounge in September. John once told me in an interview that no matter how big or famous he'd become, he'd always play the Token Lounge.

John 5 Will Rock The Token Lounge

He's making good on that promise with his upcoming Strung Out tour, which stops at The Token on September 8th. I've seen John play The Token a few times, and he never disappoints. After one show, I jokingly told him he missed a note as he came off stage. He replied immediately, "No, I didn't." Ha! Of course, I was only pulling his leg because the dude is so good!

John 5 In Motley Crue

As many of you know, he's been filling his recent days playing with Motley Crue. So far, we've heard one song he's done with the band Dogs Of War. I'm looking forward to seeing him at Soaring Eagle later this month. That's a trek that will be well worth the trip!

Meltdown started on the mighty WRIF on the evening of Halloween, 1995. Technically, his first on-air shift was the morning of November 1st. Moving to the Motor City from Buffalo, N.Y., he has built a career and family. Over his almost three-decade stint at RIFF, he's had the privilege to work with some of the biggest personalities in Detroit radio history. He boasts of being just the second-afternoon drive jock in the station's illustrious 53-year history. Along with his love for rock music and attending concerts, he's also an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and hockey player. He plays year-round and manages to squeeze in a few charity games throughout the year. Meltdown writes about the Detroit Red Wings, rock music, and Detroit concert venues.
