The Detroit Tigers have been rocking this season! As of this writing, they’re off to a 4-0 start as the home opener approaches this coming Friday. Here are a few things happening and things to look out for as you descend downtown.
First, the RIFF party starts at 7 a.m., with Dave and Chuck broadcasting live from the Fillmore on Woodward. Jade takes over from 10:30 to 3 p.m. You can catch me, Meltdown, at the Bucharest Grille from 11 to 1 p.m.

Ok, onto the game stuff. The gates to Comerica Park will open at 10:30 am if you decide you need to get into the stadium that early.
The weather is expected to be mostly cloudy and chilly, with possible rain or the dreaded “S” word. The high will be around 43, so dress accordingly.
They’re saying parking will range from $20 – $65. ParkWhiz might be your best bet for parking.
Look for Canton, Michigan native, and “The Voice” finalist Grace West to sing the National Anthem. Shortly after that, the Detroit Lions’ Penei Sewell will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Then, it’s our Detroit Tigers taking on the Oakland Athletics at 1:10.
As you know, opening day in Detroit is like a local holiday. I suggest getting down there early unless you have a parking spot already mapped out for you. It gets congested very fast down there for opening day.
I’ve been told this opening day doesn’t occur in many ballparks. We folks here in the “D” have been holed up all winter, so now it’s time to bust out into spring. Baseball is a sure sign that warmer weather and sunshine are in our future.
See you downtown for the home opener, and Go Tigers!
