Matthew Stafford Comments on Possibly Taking on the Lions in the Playoffs
It’s not a matchup that I’d want to see, but it’s a definite possibility. Matthew Stafford could be coming back to Ford Field to try to knock the Detroit Lions out of the race for the Super Bowl. The Lions have a few possible opening round opponents, and the Los Angeles Rams are one of them. So, what is Stafford saying about possibly taking on the Lions in the playoffs?
First of all, let’s note that the Lions vs. the Rams in a playoff game would make for an incredible storyline. I personally feel that having Stafford back at Ford Field to try to wipe out the Lions’ hopes and dreams would be like seeing an ex back in town with their new partner. It’s not that I think the Lions would fall to the Rams. I actually think the Lions would have a better chance of beating the Rams than the Seahawks. Stafford isn’t a mobile quarterback, and I believe the Lions’ defense can handle him. But, I just don’t want the drama and heartache. Although it would be nice to see Jared Goff beat the team that didn’t appreciate his talents.
Following the Rams’ win during Thursday Night Football, Ryan Fitzpatrick asked Stafford about a possible playoff game against his former team. Stafford answered very wisely.

“No, no. Like I said, there’s a lot of ball to be played between now and then,” he said via Amazon Prime. “We’re just trying to get in the dance, that’s the main goal. Get in, be the best seed you can be, figure out where we got to go play after that. But there’s a lot of football to be played between now and then, and we have two tough opponents.” Listen to the latest episode of “The Squad with Anne Erickson” below. Send me your thoughts here.
