WRIF Listeners Talk Detroit Lions Alternate Uniforms
The Detroit Lions won at Ford Field in Detroit on Monday Night Football (Oct. 30), and in the primetime matchup, the team showcased their much-anticipated Detroit Lions throwback uniforms.
Before the start of the season, the Lions announced they’d wear these alternate blue helmets, which displayed the vintage Walking Lion logo utilized from 1946-62, with grey face masks. The team announced they’d wear these helmets and the uniforms during their Week 8 game against the Raiders.
Fans had some thoughts on it! Check out some comments below. There is really a mix of fans who liked the uniforms and fans who, well, didn’t. All I care about is that they won! Also below, listen to my friend and co-worker Anne’s podcast, “The Squad with Anne Erickson,” where she talks about the throwback uniforms with Jeff Risdon of USA Today’s Lions Wire.
Most of the people who commented seemed to like the helmets, but not the jerseys and pants.
Our own Anne Erickson said, “They were okay lol the game outcome was tho!”
“Yes!!!! My husband got tired of hearing me saying it” came from listener, Wendy Morrison Sanders
“Helmet YES!
Uniform ehhh” from William Mertz
Joe Nieporte and Chip Bannon want some other things removed. “Helmets are great. If they used the throwback logo full-time I wouldn’t be mad. The silver jerseys aren’t bad, but far from great. Still waiting for them to remove WCF from the sleeves!”
Gary Richert summed up what a lot of you said. “Helmet yes, jerseys nope.”
Again, from Ryan Okerstrom. “Helmets were . The rest not so much.”
Steve Sharpy chimed in. “Color of the Helmet is good. Logo not so much. Put the current lions logo on it will look good. Don’t like the Grey Pajama look.
Jason Smith scored with his take. “If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times! A new helmet has been the only thing keeping the Lions from a playoff win!”
There were many responses. You can check out more on my FaceBook and X at MeltdownWRIF
