Terror on Tillson Street in Romeo Michigan
Terror on Tillson Street in Romeo Michigan!
Everyone has a few cool houses, but few have an ENTIRE STREET decked out for Halloween like Terror on Tillson Street in Romeo! According to the Terror on Tillson Street website, over thirty homes participate in decorating and giving out candy.
They expect over 20,000 visitors from all over Michigan, Ohio, and even Mississippi. These dedicated homeowners set up and have their Halloween decor ready weeks before Halloween so you can walk or drive through the neighborhood and check out all the amazing displays.
It is truly a neighborhood gathering, neighbor helping neighbor, to quote Mike Ponke, a resident of Tillson Street:
“And it has truly brought all Tillson Street neighbors closer as well. During the month of October, it’s very common to find neighbors helping other neighbors with some paint touch-ups on their tombstones, hanging a ghost from a tree, or just spending time with each other on the front porch and enjoying the season.”
Tillson Steet Does It on Their Own Dime
All the homeowners do this out of their own pocket and receive no tax credits, government funding, or help from local organizations. Other than some candy donations, this is all run by the residents of Tillson Street.
And they run a fundraiser to support the local Romeo High School vocational and athletic programs. And they support veterans through the Wounded Warrior Program. They are able to provide this support by selling “Halloween on Tillson Street” T-shirts and cookbooks.
There is no cost to drive or walk around. And they are “open” and constantly updating all the way up to October 31st.
You can park in the neighboring streets or businesses and take a stroll through Romeo. Check out the local stores and Tillson Street.
Just be kind and respect the work that they have put into their displays and do not touch and be kind.
