Who did Bon Jovi name as the Greatest Guitarist of all time?
While on the Howard Stern show, Bon Jovi named the greatest guitarist of all time. And to Howard’s surprise, it was not Jimi Hendrix, even though Jon did put Jimi at the top of the list.
According to Guitar.com, Jon said that the late Jeff Beck was the best he has ever seen. Even more so than his former bandmate Richie Sambora. Bon Jovi worked with Beck on the soundtrack of Young Guns II and had this to say about him:
“I was in the room with Jeff Beck when he took a guitar out of a cardboard box, had a rented amplifier and no pedals and created that sound when we did the Young Guns record,” he recalls. “He was my guitar player. I sat there flabbergasted because Jeff Beck did things with his fingers and his thumb that would blow your mind.”
Other guitarists Bon Jovi added to this great guitarist list included: Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, and Mark Knopfler.
