Love Beer? Michigan is Your Haven, New Study Says
National Beer Day is this Friday (April 7), and in honor of the day, GreatLakesStakes.com looked at some of America’s best states for beer based on quality, quantity and affordability.
They even ranked the states to find the best beer state, and you might not believe – or maybe you will – which state is No. 1.
In the study, the site highlighted some of Michigan’s best brewers, including Founders Brewing in Grand Rapids, Kuhnhenn in Warren, Bell’s in Kalamazoo. Dark Horse in Marshall, Transient Artisan in Bridgman, Schramm’s Mead in Ferndale, and Perrin in Comstock Park. They also stated that the Detroit Beer Company celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
They found that Michigan is the No. 1 beer state in the entire US. That’s very awesome! As for methodology, GreatLakesStakes.com utilized three combined data points: BeerAdvocate.com to get the average rating of beers brewed in the state, BrewersAssociation.org to get the amount of breweries per capita (per 100,000 residents) and MakeBeerEasy.com.
