The Smashing Pumpkins Coming Back To Pine Knob This Summer

Another day, another concert announcement.

One of the best concerts I saw last year was the Smashing Pumpkins . Well, they’re coming back. They announced their “The World Is A Vampire” tour at Pine Knob on September 6th with special guests Interpol.

Billy Corgan, ever the wrestling fan, the tour will also feature some of the world’s biggest champions from the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), who will be competing in most cities.

Billy says this is a tour for everyone. “I grew up in a world where I needed to know bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure existed, it meant there was a place for people like me to hang out and belong. That’s what The World Is A Vampire is about. Bringing back that sense of community. If you don’t fit in, you belong here. It’s about having a shared experience and respecting others, but ultimately having fun. A true alternative festival, where all the self-proclaimed weirdos and outsiders of the world can get together and have a party”

Smashing Pumpkins and Jane's Addiction Came to LCA

Meltdown started on the mighty WRIF on the evening of Halloween, 1995. Technically, his first on-air shift was the morning of November 1st. Moving to the Motor City from Buffalo, N.Y., he has built a career and family. Over his almost three-decade stint at RIFF, he's had the privilege to work with some of the biggest personalities in Detroit radio history. He boasts of being just the second-afternoon drive jock in the station's illustrious 53-year history. Along with his love for rock music and attending concerts, he's also an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and hockey player. He plays year-round and manages to squeeze in a few charity games throughout the year. Meltdown writes about the Detroit Red Wings, rock music, and Detroit concert venues.
