Michigan, at long last, got some snow over the past weekend, at least most of the lower region. It wasn’t quite the massive snowstorm that was predicted, but we do have a good amount of the white stuff on the ground.

Now that the snow has passed, Michigan gets to brace for very frigid temperatures. We’re experiencing an upper-level disturbance roll through the entire region, and that is bringing the chance for more snow, albeit light, as well as cold weather.

Heading into Tuesday (Jan. 31), the cold temperatures start to enter the region as well. Even though there will be cloud cover, which usually helps, high temperatures are only going to make it to the upper teens by Tuesday afternoon across much of lower Michigan. Overnight, going into Wednesday, temperatures will drop to near zero, according to Weather.com, in Lansing, Detroit, Grand Rapids and Flint, with Lansing and Grand Rapids having the closest temperatures to zero. Win chills are expected to dip below zero overnight going into Wednesday. These temperatures are colder than average for this time of year, but considering we’ve had warmer than average temperatures for most of January, we were overdue. Tuesday will be cold, with highs across Michigan near 20. Stay warm and safe during these cold times.
