Did you know that Matt Patricia was still on the payroll for the Detroit Lions? That's how these contracts work. But, now, Patricia is officially no longer being paid by the Lions, as that contract has run out. My friend Brad Berreman over at SideLionReport.com makes the point that, "Matt Patricia may wind up unemployed due to the Lions no longer paying him."

Berreman says:

The Patriots are certainly going to go a different direction with their offensive play caller, and maybe Belichick will give the new person the actual title of offensive coordinator. Asking Patricia to do something on a side of the ball he’d never done it on was setting him up to fail.

Time will tell, but for now, the Lions are looking forward not backward, so we're not really interested in Patricia's future. Read Berreman's full story here.
