Meltdown on WRIF

Weekdays 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Metallica’s Ride The Lightning was the first album I ever bought. As a kid, I saw that image on the cover; the lightning bolt, the electric hair. It had to be great, right? Well, it was…and is. It’s always the pick between RTL or Master of Puppets. I’d take Master by a hair, but that’s not what this post is about. Trust me, I could talk about these two albums for hours.

Kirk Hammett says the band’s sophomore album Ride The Lightning is named after a line from Stephen King’s The Stand, about a character that is about to be executed by the electric chair. And from what I hear, King is a big ‘Tallica fan himself. He was supposedly a fan club member way back in the day.

Are you a fan club member? If you’re in Michigan, you could join the Metallica club I’m in….The Struggle Within Michigan chapter.
