Screamin’ Scott’s Top 5 ‘Walk-Up’ Songs – Screamin’ Scott
Always wondered what it would be like to have a “walk-up” song, like baseball players and professional wrestlers and boxers when they enter the ring. I had to do some thinking if I ever had the chance or needed an intro of my own. So here’s a list of my Top 5 Screamin’ Walk-Up Songs.
#1 Cinderella’s “If You Don’t Like it I Don’t Care.” Love this song from Long Cold Winter. The intro is a definite song you just turn up as loud as you can. Eighties glam-metal at its best.
#2 Aerosmith’s “When the Lightning Strikes.” It’s the only Aerosmith album not to feature Joe Perry on guitar. First time I heard this song, I had to take a step back from the speakers. Very underrated album. One of the most powerful intros next to “Draw the Line” from 1977. I even got pulled over in Romeo for speeding to this song.
#3 Hometown love to Detroit’s,” Almighty Strut” with their song, “Undercover.” Features the Late Gunner Ross who played with logs instead of drumsticks. Just kidding but a power drivin’ song that gets the blood flowing. Wake Em Up Gunner.
#4 Foo Fighters “Everlong.” The build-up on the intro of this song is perfect for a walk-up song. If there is a made up term to describe this it would be a “Nice Angry Song.” Also a honorable mention would go as a runner up would be the Foo Fighters, “Monkey Wrench.”
#5 Motley Crue’s “Primal Scream.” By far my favorite Crue tune in the catalog. I think its the band’s most underrated song. Released as a single and made to #21 on the Rock Charts. Mick Mars combination of slide and guitar solo’s on this are awesome. Love the aggressive feel to this rocker.
Let’s compare lists and would love to hear your thoughts on my list. Save this list as you never know when there will be a time I will need a walk up song for a WRIF event when I see some of you out and about the Motor City!
