Enjoying a Sunday afternoon knowing the stress of a Lions loss was simply impossible, was simply great. It was a gorgeous day filled with sunshine that gave me a chance to do some yard work and soak up a Michigan Fall afternoon.

Then, in a blink of an eye, my afternoon would change. I live close to Macomb Mall, and around the Christmas season, we seem to have the annual tradition of running the alleged shoplifters. Even more fun, when there is snow and ice on the ground.

Out of the blue, the traffic going by my home was heavier than normal and people driving fast. The mall had orders to evacuate. People didn’t know what was happening, but word leaked on social media that there was an active shooter at the mall, but no details. Then, police came down the street from every turn. Roseville, Clinton Twp, Fraser police even stopped in front of my home and detained my neighbor across the street who was over having coffee. He seem to fit the description of whom they were seeking. Imagine my eyes having guns drawn in my driveway for my friend having coffee. My coffee can’t be that bad, can it?

After the discussion, my neighbor was released to go on his way to warm up his coffee to try to start his day again. The story goes that allegedly two groups of people got into an altercation, and someone shot a gun into the air. No one was injured thank goodness, and police are looking at cameras that are everywhere around the mall. Never a boring day at my dude ranch main branch in Roseville. Thanks to all area law enforcement for moving so quickly to keep us all safe to enjoy a Sunday afternoon.

Macomb Mall locked down due to shooting between 'rival' groups

An apparent argument between two rival groups of young people erupted into gunfire Sunday afternoon that resulted in a lockdown at Macomb Mall in Roseville, according to police and witnesses. The shooting took place about 1 p.m. outside of Dick's Sporting Goods at the mall's front entrance facing Gratiot Avenue and Masonic Boulevard.
